Missing Ft. Drum Soldiers Honored At NHL Game
At Saturday nights NHL game between the Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins, 2 missing Fort Drum Soldiers were honored before the game, as members of the 10th Mountain Division from Ft. Drum, NY received jerseys in the names of two missing/captured soldiers. Sgt. Alex Jimenez from Lawrence, Mass. and Pfc. Byron Fouty of Detroit were honored as they remain missing from a combat mission in Iraq. This is especially important to me as I live near Fort Drum and actually helped a soldier get unstuck from the snow. He told me he is returning to Iraq for the 3rd time later this year. Living near the soldiers that fight in this battle makes me appreciate their commitment and sacrifice to this call. It is a great thing that the NHL decided to use this forum to honor these two soldiers that are MIA and keeps these brave men in the forefront of our minds. Kodo's to the Bruins and Red Wings for honoring these two men that have fought on our country's behalf. Its not about the politics of the war that matter, its about the men and women that come from every walk of life to put their lives on the line for our freedom and the freedom of Iragi civilians!
