Tony Dungy Returns As Colts Coach, Jim Caldwell Promoted

Tony Dungy has agreed to return to the Indianapolis Head Coach next season and Jim Caldwell will be promoted to Assistant Head Coach, the team announced at a news conference late Monday afternoon. Dungy expressed that this is the same process he has gone thru the past 3 seasons, but this time became more public as his son enrolled in a Tampa, Florida school and on the heels of the death of another son two years ago. This decision for Dungy was one made by more than just himself. "It was a family decision," Dungy said. "We're on board, and we look forward to '08, look forward to putting together a winner. "His concern was for his family as well as the colts. "I wouldn't shortchange my family," he said. "I wouldn't come back if my wife or my children were not for it." Dungy is one of these coaches that seems to have a lot of things in order in his life and I hope that this works out for everybody, mainly his family! Caldwell has coached along-side Dungy the past 7 seasons and will begin to be involved in the decision process on salary cap and other Head Coach issues. He will eventually take over for Dungy when he decides to retire.
