Appalachian State In FCS Title Game

Many of us know Appalachian State as the team that upset Michigan in the first game of 2007, but they are a power in Football Championship Subdivision, having won the last two titles in what is formerly known as Division 1AA. The Mountaineers defeated the Richmond Spiders 55-35 in Boone, NC where Appalachian State is located. They take on the winner of Saturday's Delaware-Southern Illinois Semi-Final when they travel to the FCS Championship Friday in Chattanooga, Tenn. Appalachian State Quarterback Armanti Edwards rushed for 313 yards and four touchdowns and threw for 182 yards and three more scores. Wow! No matter what level you are at, that is an impressive performance. That is why you probably won't see too many teams in Division 1 taking on App. State in the future.
