Major League Pitcher Joe Kennedy Dies

Major League pitcher Joe Kennedy died early Friday morning at the age of 28, the cause of death is not immediately known according to his agent Damon Lapa. Kennedy has pitched in the Majors for seven years, most recently with the Toronto Blue Jays. "We were terribly shocked," Blue Jays president Paul Godfrey told The Associated Press. "From what we understand he was in Brandon ... to be the best man at a wedding today." He apparently awoke at 1:15am at his wife's parents house and then collapsed. He was then taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. "It's a sad day and a sad situation," Colorado Rockie's Todd Helton said. "He's leaving a wife and a little boy behind." Helton is a close friend according to published reports. He was signed by the Blue Jays on August 29th of this year and earned his first win as a Blue Jay against the Yankees on September 21st. The collective thoughts and prayers of the Mud Free Sports community go out to the Kennedy Family.
