25 Year Anniversary of THE PLAY Cal vs. Stanford

When Cal and Stanford meet this Saturday it will be the 25th meeting since "The Play" when Cal came back to win 25-20 with laterals, miracles, and a band. Watch the video above, has a great 3-D animation to it that gives a different perspective on a classic play. The Play occurred November 2o, 1982 during the "Big Game" and went on to stardom as every news outlet carried video of it and water coolers were surrounded with talk about it that next week. The great play ended when the Stanford band stormed the end zone, assuming the game was won and over and as the play continued Kevin Moen took the last pitch and ran into the end zone where he ran into lead trombone player Gary Tyrell. "We were just rockin' out, playing "All Right Now." And, while this was going on — we're high-fiving — they still had to do this kickoff behind us," recalls Tyrell. "I saw this Cal player in the end zone ... and he had the football," Tyrrell recalls. "Next thing I know, I'm sittin' on the Astroturf!" What a play!
