YANKEES UPDATE OCTOBER 28, 2007

According to the New York Daily News, signs are pointing to Joe Girardi being chosen as the next manager of the New York Yankees. Sources are saying an announcement may happen on Monday or Tuesday, depending on when the World Series has its next break. Also being reported on various news outlets is Alex Rodriguez is going to be offered a 5 year $150 Million contract that would extend his current deal which still has 3 years and $81 Million remaining, though he has the option of opting out this year. These are 2 decisions that will impact the Yankees for years to come. How comfortable are you with GM Brian Cashman and the Steinbrenner family Dictatorship making these decisions. I personally feel like Girardi is the right choice, even with growing up watching Don Mattingly and loving the idea of him as manager. Girardi seems more intense and I think with the mix of young and old guys, they need a different style of manager than Mattingly appears to be. As far as A-Rod? I like that they refuse to get into a bidding war for his services, but I feel like he is already gone. I would love for A-Rod to be back and help stablize the team going forward.
